Alhough this program is a part of SEFiSYS (Secure Files System) programs collection, it could be still used as a stand alone application. It could be started from a PC hard drive, or from inserted USB or memory card. When these external data storages are removed from the PC, there are no files belonging to SHREDGen program left on the PC. Program Highlights: - The program does not need activation, registration, updating or access to the Internet.
- It exists in its full version only, which will never expire.
- StreamGen does not collect, store or send any information.
- It can run from a hard drive, memory card or USB storage devices.*
- It is very easy to use and install, is free to download, and in its unchanged format is free to distribute.
- System Requirements: XP (Service pack 2) - WIN10
*Installation program creates shortcut on the desktop, pointing to directory where the program is installed. If it is installed on USB or some other external device, and the device is removed, the shortcut on the desktop will not display the program's icon and will not start the program. New version 1.1 - August 2024 The SHREDGen is visually very similar to StreamGen program, yet they differ in their functionality. Both allow selection and display of differnt files but both offer different processing: StreamGen will obfuscate the code of HTML files into compact format to prevent revealing the code by Webbrowser in its original format. That makes code harder to hack it, and therefore the program is designated to people creating webpages.
SHREDGen has wider user base, since it securely removes files from their storage on hard drive of external data storage.
SHREDGen program belongs to a family of eraser applications and it has only one specific aim: To safely erase, i.e., not just delete, any selected Windows compatible files without leaving any trace of them in their original storage. Now, what is the Difference between erase and delete? From Wikipedia: “They sound synonymous but deleting and erasing a file are two different things. When you delete a file, you just reallocate it on the system making it harder to find, i.e., the files remain present in your system but are no more accessible. When you erase a file, it is gone forever. File eraser software permanently destroys targeted data on active PCs, servers, and virtual machines to prevent data breaches. File eraser securely and safely eliminates files, adheres to international standards, and provides certified reports that comply with legal regulations.” The SHREDGen program support the U.S. Department of Defence DoD 5220.22-M standard for erasing files.
The algorithm using this standard was deployed in my PCLock program and was successfully tested by IT Company AEHIGHTECH in Mexico. I have successfully tested the SHREDGen program before its release, using free program Recuva by PIRIFORM Software Limited. From a collection of twenty data recovery programs, evaluated by Lifewire website, Recuva was selected as their “Favorite Data Recovery” program.
